On June 1st, 1956, Mr. and Mrs. Finnon D. Lewis started a business called Lewis' Wrecker Service with a single 1946 Tow Truck. The business was located at 4643 Airline Hwy. also the site of Lewis' Cafe and Truck Stop. In 1959, the wrecker business was moved to 9555 Joor Road. Mr. Lewis started grooming his youngest son at age 10 to assume his role. Mr. Lewis and his son Dennis worked side by side. In 1980, Finnon proudly passed on the business to his protege, who was meticulously groomed to continue in his fathers footsteps.

Dennis, along with his wife, Eula and daughter Michelle, has managed to bring the company to its current standings with seven trucks and six employees. Lewis' Wrecker Service, Inc. is the oldest towing company in Baton Rouge. They have also established an extremely good standing in Central. Dennis is well known with the residents of this area, as he is a long-standing member of Central Area Business Association. He has been an active participant in the coordinating the CABA Christmas Parade for many years. He is also a past member of the Central Volunteer Fire Department of Directors. Dennis is on the board of directors of the Towing and Recovery Professionals of Louisiana and a member of the Towing and Recovery Association of America.
